John Westley Cornett's Obituary
John Westley Cornett, 76, of Stanfield passed away October 9, 2020 at the Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis. A graveside service will be held at 2 PM on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 in the Shiloh Advent Christian Church Cemetery with Rev. Travis Hutcheson officiating. Mr. Cornett will lie in state at Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care of Locust from 6 until 8 PM on Monday evening.
Born July 16, 1944 in Watauga County, NC, he was the son of the late Abraham Cornett and Airy Love Cornett. He was member of Shiloh Advent Christian Church in Monroe. He was an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous and recently celebrated 29 years of sobriety.
Mr. Cornett is survived by his wife of 55 years Johnnie Cornett, daughter Melissa Cornett Ray of Charlotte, granddaughter Chloe Cornett Moore of Charlotte and sister Vangeline Ward.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Alcoholics Anonymous, 309 S. Broome St., Albemarle, NC 28001 or to the Tucker Hospice House, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
