Joel William Stoker's Obituary
Joel ?Joe? William Stoker, 73 of Albemarle, passed away Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at his home. His funeral will be Thursday, September 3, at 11 AM at Prospect Baptist Church with Rev. Stoney Benfield officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 ? 8 Wednesday evening at Stanly Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Fairview Memorial Park.
Born December 18, 1941 in Stanly County, he is the son of the late William Gythe Stoker and Lillie Mae Jones Stoker. Mr. Stoker was a graduate of Albemarle High School and N.C. State University. He was a longtime employee of Rusco Fixtures in Oakboro from where he later retired. Joe was a member of Prospect Baptist Church and also enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and volunteering in the community.
He is survived by three daughters, Andrea Stoker Griffin (Horace) of Albemarle, Jennifer Stoker Kimrey (Jamie) of Badin, and Amanda Stoker Cox (Curtis) of Albemarle; one brother, Lindell Gene ?Buddy? Stoker (Loretta) of Gastonia; one sister, Judy Stoker Huneycutt (Kenneth) of New London. Other survivors include six grandchildren, Greyson Griffin, Ross Griffin, Brinn Kimrey, Landon Kimrey, William Cox, and Macy Cox.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Hospice of Stanly County and to his very special friends and classmates. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Stanly County at 960 N. First St. Albemarle, NC 28001.
