Joel Franklin Plowman's Obituary
Joel Franklin Plowman, 87, of Salisbury, passed away Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family. A visitation will be held from 9-10:30AM Friday, December 22, 2023, at Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care-Albemarle. The Funeral service will be held at 11AM Friday, December 22, 2023, at Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care Chapel-Albemarle officiated by Rev. Tab Whitley. Burial will follow in Stanly Gardens of Memory.
Mr. Plowman was born December 30, 1935, in Stanly County, to the late Smith and Nellie Plowman. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church of Salisbury, NC where he served as Deacon and was a member of the Young at Heart Senior group. He was also a former longtime member of Lakeview Baptist Church, Albemarle, NC. Mr. Plowman was also a member of the Stanly County Rescue Squad. He loved watching his grand-daughter race autos and never complained about anything. He was also a member of the Men’s Club at Rufty’s Senior Center. He retired from the City of Albemarle Parks and Recreation Department.
Mr. Plowman is survived by his wife, Georgine Martha Brouwers Plowman. He is also survived by sons; Rodney Plowman (Trina) of Oakboro, NC, Edward Kenney (Lola) of Salisbury, NC and Christopher Kenney of Salisbury, NC. He is also survived by sister; Miriam Plowman (Cotton) Ferrell of Norwood, NC; grandchildren, Aimee Rena Plowman of Virginia, Step-grandchildren Crystal McCall of Oakboro, NC, Abigail Kenney of Salisbury, NC, Carrie Smithson of Kannapolis, NC, Katie Kenney of Salisbury, NC, and great-grandchildren, Mallorie, Douglas, Bentley, Kyleigh, Layke, and River. Mr. Plowman was preceded in death by his first wife, Carol Plowman. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Joseph Plowman, Lonnie Plowman, Bruce Plowman, and sister Merritte Plowman.
