Joe F. Morton, age 77 of Albemarle, NC passed away Saturday, June 11, 2016 at?Carolinas Medical Center-Main, Charlotte, NC.? His service will be Thursday, June 16,?2016 at 2:00 PM at Stanly Funeral Home Chapel, Albemarle, NC with the Rev. Otis Goins and Rev. Allen Reid officiating.? Burial will follow in the Bethel United Methodist?Church Cemetery.? The family will receive friends on Thursday from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM prior to the hour of the service.
Mr. Morton was born July 4, 1938 in Stanly County, NC to the late Coney Morton and?Virginia Taylor Morton Smith and was a retired insurance salesman with Charlotte Liberty Mutual and also retired as an auctioneer.? He was a member of the First Baptist?Church of New London.? He enjoyed being with his family and grandchildren.? Mr.?Morton was a veteran of U.S.Army serving honorably from 1960 to 1963.
Mr. Morton was married to Bonnie Jean Pence Morton who preceded him in death?February 22, 2016.? Also preceding him in death was a sister Helen M. Lowder.?Survivors include two daughters; Frankie Jean Morton of Albemarle, NC and Sheri?Dawn Morton of Charlotte, NC and two grandchildren Clayton Kevin Eudy, Jr. of?Oakboro, NC and Christopher Morton of Albemarle, NC.
