Jimmy Charles Smith's Obituary
Jimmy Charles Smith, 82, of Albemarle, passed to his heavenly home on March 31, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Jimmy was born December 25, 1941, in Stanly County to the late James Farnton Smith and Daisy Belle Burris Smith. It was an honor to know that Jimmy was born on Christmas Day and met our Lord and Savior on Resurrection Day!
A machinist by trade, he could make or build anything. He enjoyed fishing, farming, family, and friends. He loved tending to his cattle and watching his Tarheel basketball. When told the greeting, “It’s good to see you”, he often responded, “It’s good to be seen”.
He was preceded in death by brothers-in-law JD Swaringen and Max Troublefield.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Tina Swaringen Smith, of the home; a son, James C. Smith of Albemarle, NC; and a daughter, Lynette Smith Whitley (Alex) of Mount Pleasant, NC. Grandchildren A. Taylor Smith, Jared R. Smith, and Laura G. Whitley. Sister Joyce Troublefield of Albemarle, NC; Brothers Gerald J. Smith (Betty) of Columbia, SC; and Donald J. Smith (Jane) of Albemarle, NC. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A Graveside service is scheduled at 2 PM Friday, April 5, 2024, at Centerview Baptist Church Cemetery, with Pastor Adam Hatley officiating. All family and friends are welcome! No formal visitation is scheduled.
