Jimmy F. Harris' Obituary
Jimmy Franklin “Jim” Harris, of Albemarle, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Friday, May 15, 2026, at the age of 60.
Born on March 13, 1966, in Albemarle NC. Jimmy was the son of the late Ray Blair Harris and the living Frankie Gale Hatley Harris. A lifelong resident of Albemarle, he was well known throughout the community for his kindness, hardworking spirit, and willingness to help others. Jimmy dedicated much of his life to public service and his community. He worked in various public positions with Stanly County Government working with Animal Control, and as a Jailer with the Stanly County Sheriff’s office. He also delivered propane with Lee Oil and Gas. He retired from the Parks and Recreation Department with the city of Locust NC. Jimmy had a compassionate heart and quietly helped many people throughout his life.
He is survived by his son, Jimmy Darrell Harris and wife Teri Lynn of Locust, his Mother Frankie H. Harris of Albemarle; his Sister Rayna H. Medlin and husband Kent of Albemarle; Maternal Grandmother Wilma W. Hatley of Albemarle and by a beloved niece and nephews Camden Jessup, Chandler Jessup and Jimi Raye Jessup. Also survived by Aunt Jean Page, Uncle Donnie Hatley and Uncle Kevin Lambert. He was affectionately known as “Uncle Jimmy” to his Aunt Joan’s children, grandchildren and great grandchild.
In addition to his Father Ray B. Harris, Jim was preceded in death by his grandfather Frank E. Hatley, and Aunt Joan Lambert., and beloved cat “Buddy”.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at Stanly Funeral & Cremation Care Chapel with Rev. Don Burleyson officiating. Burial will follow at Bear Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:00 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Jim will be remembered for his gentle nature, strong work ethic, love for his family, and the many quiet acts of kindness he extended to those around him. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
