Jewell Pickler Chagaris' Obituary
Jewell Pickler Chagaris, 86, of New London, passed away on
Sunday, January 20, 2019 at Bethany Woods Nursing Home & Rehab. A graveside service will be held on
Wednesday, January 23 at 3 PM at Fairview Memorial Park with Rev. Leslee Wray officiating.
The family will receive friends from
1-2PM Wednesday prior to the graveside service at Stanly Funeral and Cremation
Care in Albemarle
Jewell was born on August 31, 1932 to the late Houston T. Pickler
and Mary Lee Mauldin Pickler. She worked
as a receptionist for Duke Power in Charlotte for more than 35 years. She enjoyed working in the yard and spending
time with her family. She was a member
of New Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church.
She was married to the late Peter Chagaris. She is survived by her two step-daughters;
Joannie Foussekis (John) of Norfolk, VA, and Kathy Smith of Charlotte, NC, a
brother; Carroll Pickler of Albemarle, NC, two step grandchildren, one
great-granddaughter, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her sisters Betty
Sue Thompson, Frances Lee Rummage, Ramelle P. Frick, and a brother, Howard J.
Pickler.
