Jerry Louis Ray Strickland's Obituary
Jerry Louis Ray Strickland, 88, of Locust, NC, passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2022 in his home. The family will receive friends at Stanly Funeral Home of Locust from 5pm until 7pm on Thursday evening. There will be a memorial service held at 2:00 PM Friday, July 1st 2022 at Mountain View Baptist Church in Independence, VA. Internment will be in the Mountain View Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Strickland was born June 28, 1934 in Liberty Co., GA to the late Jessie and Jeanette Stickland. Jerry retired as a CPA with George G. Scott and Company. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Locust.
Jerry was predeceased by his wife of sixty-four years, Betty Joyce Higgs Strickland and a daughter Judy Renee Strickland of Lewisville, NC. He is survived by two daughters, Donna Carter of Murfreesboro, TN and Lisa Underwood (Blair) of Locust, NC and nephew, Jason Mangrum (MJ) of Murfreesboro, TN.
Jerry loved spending time watching college sports, especially football and basketball. He was a huge ABC fan; Anybody But Carolina. He enjoyed visiting neighbors and friends on his golf cart and playing canasta at the Senior Center. He loved his family, and was especially proud of his grandson, Jason.
