Jerry C. Giles' Obituary
Jerry C. Giles of Albemarle went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday morning January 10th at the age of 80 years old.
A graveside service will be held at Fairview Memorial Park on Wednesday January 20th, 2021 at 3:00 pm.? All are welcome to pay their respects and celebrate the life of Jerry.? Due to COVID, the family request masks and social distancing to keep all attendees safe.?? Reverend Ron Honeycutt will be presiding over the service.?
Jerry was predeceased by his parents, ten siblings, his father & mother in law, and a sister & brother in law.
Jerry was a devoted husband, loving father, and caring grandfather. He is survived by his loyal wife of 38 years, Linda Giles. He is also survived by his two sons, Michael Almond (Crystal) and Jeff Almond (Debra). ?Pa Jerry? was blessed with and proud of his 6 grandchildren Gabriel, Madison, Christian, Brandon, Jermey, and Tanner. Jerry is also survived by his sister-in-law, Susan Smith (Kevin), and two nephews, Jordan Smith (Morgan), and Kenny Underwood (Katie). Also surviving are many special nieces, nephews, and cousins in the Radford, VA area as well as Baltimore, MD.
Jerry was born in 1940 and grew up in Parrott, VA. Before moving to NC, Jerry served in the Navy as an Airplane Mechanic Assistant for 6 years including the tense period of the Cuban Blockade. After moving to NC, Jerry worked for 35 years as a Field Inspector for Underwriter?s Laboratories. Upon ?retiring? Jerry enjoyed his job and many friendships at Stanly Salvage. Jerry had and avid love of sports, beach camping, working in the yard, fixing things, spending time with all his family, and taking good care of his Maltese dog, Missy.
Jerry was loved by everyone. His kind and enthusiastic demeanor combined with his selfless nature of helping everyone he met created many long lasting relationships. Jerry?s family and friends will remember him fondly for his friendliness, sense of humor, enthusiasm, kindness, being a tireless worker, and selflessly making sure others had what they needed. Jerry lived a Christian spirit of love and service grounded in his faithful fondness of his church, Anderson Grove Baptist Church, where he attended for the last 38 years. Jerry was a blessing that changed many lives and he will be missed dearly by his family. We hold tight to the blessing of the time with Jerry and the many memories that were shared.
