Jerry Carl Clontz's Obituary
Jerry Carl Clontz, 76, of Monroe, NC, passed away on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at his home. His funeral service will be held at 3 pm on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at Zion Methodist Church, with Mark Clontz and Chris Clontz officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military graveside rites. The family will receive friends from 1 pm until 2:45 pm before the service.
Jerry was born on December 12, 1946, in Union County, NC, to the late Carl Alonzo Clontz and Georgia Lee Greene Clontz. Jerry was also preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy Alan Clontz. Jerry served his country from 1965-1971 in the Marine Corps, also serving in Vietnam. Jerry was an avid fisherman who loved saltwater fishing. Jerry was devoted to his family, church family, and community. He shared his love for the outdoors with his kids and grandkids, teaching them many things, his favorites being gardening, fishing, and golfing. His grandkids were his world. Jerry was a lifetime member of Zion Methodist Church, where he served on many committees and taught Sunday School. He demonstrated his profound love for the Lord to everyone he encountered.
The Fairview community was always especially important to Jerry. He served on the town council from day one when Fairview became a town. His love for the community is evident through the way he cared for Fairview's park, desiring a nice, clean, safe place for the community to enjoy.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Dru Baucom Clontz, of the home. He is also survived by a son, Matthew “Matt” Clontz, of Monroe, NC; daughter, Ashley Clontz Price (Gary), of Monroe, NC; a brother, Mark Clontz (Debbie), of Norwood, NC; sister-in-law, Susan Clontz, of Monroe, NC; brother-in-law, Terrell Baucom (Helen), of Monroe, NC, and four grandchildren: Katie Price, Tyler Price, Josie Clontz, and Georgia Clontz. Nieces and nephews Belinda Sarooei, Chris Clontz, Kelly Cook, Tanya Krome; and several great nieces and nephews.
