Jerry was born on September 14, 1950, to the late Lacy and Exie Callicutt. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose kindness and generosity touched many lives.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Brenda Callicutt, and his two sons, Jeremy (Sarah) Callicutt and Jason (Angie) Callicutt. His greatest joy in life was being “Pa” to his grandchildren: Carter, Taylor, Caroline, Jake, Carly, Allison, and Alden Callicutt, each of whom held a special place in his heart. He is also survived by siblings, Bobby Callicutt, Donnie Callicutt, Phyllis "Sissy" Leonard, and Ann Royal. He loved all people and was lovingly called “Pa” or “Bubba” by any kid who came into his life. Jerry was preceded in death by siblings Terry Callicutt and Tommy Callicutt.
Jerry spent many years working at Carolina Oil Company as an oil delivery driver and drove a wrecker for over 30 years before finishing his career with the Department of Transportation. He was known for his strong work ethic and dependable nature.
Outside of work, Jerry loved the outdoors. Hunting was one of his favorite pastimes, and turkey hunting was especially dear to him. Whether in the woods or at home with family, he found joy in the simple moments of life. He was a jack of all trades. He could build a fireplace, fix a motor or build anything you wanted.
More than anything, Jerry was a good man who loved his family deeply. He was the kind of person who would help anyone at any time without hesitation. His generosity, steady presence, and warm heart will be remembered by all who knew him.
Jerry will be greatly missed, but his love and the memories he created with his family and friends will live on forever. His family is so thankful for the prayers and love that have been given during this time.
