We moved to East Albemarle when I was eight. The Bailey Street crew welcomed me into the fold quickly. Jane was the glue that kept the neighborhood kids together. The Hartley house always had its door open. 1211 Bailey Street soon became my home away from home.
Whether it was sled riding on snowy days or just hanging out, Jane was always there for all of her “little brothers.” When the Junior High School Christmas dance came around, I reached out to Jane, and she made sure I was ready to go. Because of her tutelage, I stepped onto that gym floor with confidence because Jane taught me to shag.
You’ll always be my older sister. Love you, Baby Jane.
