James Walter Tuzenew's Obituary
James Walter Tuzenew, 68, of Richfield, N.C., passed away on Monday November 2, 2015 in Stanly Regional Hospital. His memorial service will be held on Thursday, November 5, 2015 at 6:00 PM at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church with Pastor Sue Crouse officiating. The family will receive friends afterwards in the church fellowship hall.
Mr. Tuzenew was born April 15, 1948 in Neptune City, N.J. to the late Walter Austin Tuzenew and Alma Ennis Tuzenew. He earned a Bachelors Degree in History from Pfeiffer University, his teaching certification from UNCC in Behaviorally and Emotionally Handicapped Education, and was a retired Teacher of the Stanly County Schools with 22 years of service. Mr. Tuzenew was a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, a former volunteer Fireman for the town of Richfield, and former Town Council Member of Richfield. He loved his family, grandchildren and children who were the joy of his life. He also loved his church and neighbors and he never met a stranger. Mr. Tuzenew enjoyed gardening, reading and sports.? He also once beat Pete Rose in a game of Ping-Pong.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years Paulette Balfrey Tuzenew of the home. Other survivors include two sons, Samuel Austin Tuzenew and wife Kristi of Oakboro, N.C., and Marc Aaron Tuzenew and wife Jennifer of Richfield, N.C., one daughter, Marissa Tuzenew Trent and husband Kenneth of Richfiled, N.C., seven grandchildren, Rhiannon, Brobyn, McKenna, and Cardea Trent, Dylan, Tyler, and Silas James Tuzenew.? He is preceded in death by a sister Marlene Tuzenew.
