James Ray Smith, Jr. of New London, NC passed away on Tuesday, August 8, 2017
in his home.? His service will be Thursday, August 10, 2017 at 2:00 PM in the Stanly Funeral Home Chapel, Albemarle, NC.?? The family will receive friends on Thursday afternoon from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM prior to the hour of the service.
Mr. Smith was born on April 25, 1940 in Oak Hill, WV to the late James Ray Smith, Sr. and Dana Treadway Smith and retired employee of Michelin Aircraft Tire Corp. of Norwood.? He was a veteran of U.S. Army, avid book reader and he love taking his grandchildren to school.
Mr. Smith was married to Carol Jean Bish Smith of the home.? Other survivors include two sons,? Robert James Smith and wife Dusti of Albemarle, NC and Aaron Ray Smithand wife Pamala of Richfield, NC, one daughter, Belinda B. Clayton and husband Randall of New London, N.C., seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
