James T. Russell Sr.'s Obituary
James T. "Jimmy" Russell Sr., 89, of Albemarle passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2024 in his home. A memorial service will be held at 11AM Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at the Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care of Albemarle Chapel with Rev. Dr. Darrell Huneycutt officiating. There will be no formal visitation.
Born December 3, 1934 in Stanly County, NC, he was the son of the late Seaford and Nannie Cranford Russell. He was a graduate of New London HS and was a retired employee with Wiscassett Mills and had just retired from O'Reilly Auto Parts. He was a member of Fairview Baptist Church. Jimmy was an avid sportsman. He loved his Albemarle Bulldogs and for years didn't miss a game. Back in his prime he was the coach of the C&A Giants Optimist Baseball Team.
Mr. Russell is survived by his wife Loretta Yvonne Russell of the home. Other survivors include sons James T. Russell Jr. (Denise) of Lake Tillery and Randy A. Russell (Mirian) of Albemarle, brother Don Russell of Millingport, 6 grandchildren: Heather Del-Colle (Mark) of Raleigh, Leslie Perrot (Scott) of Wilmington, Shea Russell (Jasmine) of Badin, Christopher (C.J.) Russell of Huntersville, Ashlee Russell of Albemarle and Charles Chinault (Nikki) of Radford, VA, and 6 great-grandchildren Cali Russell of Badin, Madeline Del-Colle of Raleigh, Faith Perrot of Wilmington, Alaina Russell of Albemarle, Anthody Del-Colle of Raleigh and William L. Chainault of Radford, VA. Mr. Russell was preceded in death by a son James A. Russell and two sisters Bobbie Barbee and Betty Boshinyak.
Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care of Albemarle is entrusted with arrangements.
