James Farrington Morgan's Obituary
James Farrington Morgan, 86, went to be with the Lord on March 8, 2024. A graveside service will be held at 11am on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at Clarks Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Stanfield, North Carolina. He was born and raised in Stanfield, North Carolina. He was an exceptional student, achieving the rank of Eagle Scout, as well as graduating near the top of his class. After high school, he joined the US Marine Corps and upon completion of recruitment training at Paris Island he was awarded the most outstanding man in his platoon by General Wallace M. Green Jr. He was also awarded rifle expert and pistol marksman medals for his sharp shooting skills. He completed multiple advanced training opportunities and was ultimately assigned to the fixed wing squadron at the Marine Corps Air Station at Cherry Point. After completion of his military service, he joined the Douglas Aircraft team that was a part of the Nike Ajax missile program. From there he joined Duff Norton Company working in hydraulic engineering until he retired after a 40-year career. He was regarded for his dedication, work ethic, and expertise in product and application knowledge. Many of his coworkers remain lifelong friends. During retirement he enjoyed many activities, but classic cars and the Senior Olympic Games were among his favorite. As an avid car enthusiast, he traveled to countless auto fairs and classic car shows. He also competed in the Senior Olympics Games winning medals in multiple events including discus, shot-put, long jump, as well as many others. He competed for almost 20 years and won both at the county and state level. As a result of his ability and performance he qualified for, and participated in, the national Senior Olympics games on multiple occasions. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He will be missed dearly.
