James Grover Burris,'s Obituary
James Grover Burris, Sr., 86, of Albemarle, passed away Saturday July 11, 2020 at the Tucker Hospice House, Kannapolis, NC. His graveside service will be held 10am Wednesday July 15, 2020 at Mt. View Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Don Crusenberry officiating. There will be a casual drop in at Stanly Funeral and Cremation of Albemarle between the hours of 5pm until 8pm on Tuesday evening.
Mr. Burris was born July 6, 1934, in Stanly County, NC, to the late Ira Alexander Burris and Theresa Hatley Burris. He retired from CK Earnhart as a Foreman. James was a member of Mt. View Baptist Church and was a Veteran of the Air National Guard. He loved the outdoors and mowing his yard.
James is preceded in death by his wife Joyce Verdie Almond Burris on March 26, 2015 and a son James G. Burris, Jr on May 22, 1989. Mr. Burris is survived by two daughters, Marcia Vanpelt (David) of Winston Salem, NC and Donna Almond Sides (Alex) of Albemarle, NC, brother Kenneth Burris of Albemarle, NC, two sisters Betty Napier and Pat Shaver (Darrell) all of Albemarle, NC and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
