James Lynn Burris' Obituary
James Lynn “Jimmy” Burris, 79, of New London passed away on Thursday, Nov. 4th, 2021 in his home. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 11 am Saturday, Nov. 13th, 2021 at the Albemarle Wesleyan Church with Rev. James Valk officiating. The family will receive friends at the church following the service. The family respectfully requests that all in attendance wear a mask and follow social distance guidelines.
Born July 24, 1942 in Stanly County, NC, he was the son of the late James Thurman “Red” Burris and Nell Cranford Burris. He was a truck driver and car dealer and attended the Albemarle Wesleyan Church. Jimmy loved cars and car shows and enjoyed talking to anyone he was around. He was very friendly and outgoing. He loved his family and friends and they loved him so much. He will be greatly missed.
Mr. Burris is survived by his wife Susan Marie Lang Burris of the home. Other survivors include son James Robert Burris (Tara) of Kimberly, WV, daughter Sheri Marie Burris Dickson (Monte) of Apex, NC, sister Gay Nell Burris of Albemarle, grandson Robert Dakota Burris of Holden Beach and granddaughter Alaina Jessica Minor of Myrtle Beach, great-grandson William Burris of Holden Beach, and 2 step grandchildren Zachary Knight and Bobby Lee Knight both of Kimberly, WV. A grandson, Gordon Reade-Hill preceded him in death.
