James Edwin Burleson, 92, of Albemarle passed away Saturday, October 22, 2016 in his home.? His funeral service will be 4 PM Thursday, October 27, 2016 at Canton Baptist Church with Pastor Mark Mabry officiating.? Burial will follow in the church cemetery.? The family will receive friends at Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care on Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 PM.
Born March 5, 1924 in Stanly County, NC, he was the son of the late Allen Lee Burleson and Lucy Herlocker Burleson.? He was a retired employee of the NC Dept of Transportation?and was a farmer.? Mr. Burleson was a member of Canton Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife Ruby Whitley Burleson who preceded him in death on May 18, 1998.? Survivors include son Dale Burleson (Darlene) of Albemarle, daughters Sue Forrest (Michael) of Albemarle, Kathy Lowder (Arnold) of Albemarle, 8 grandchildren, 2 stepgrandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 2 step great grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.? A brother Lonnie Vann Burleson and a sister Beulah Burleson Way preceded him death.
