James Christopher "Chris" Borre's Obituary
James Christopher Borre, “Chris”, departed from his earthly presence on June 04, 2023. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, June 17th at 4PM at the Stanly Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ron Loflin officiating.
Born in Nashville, TN on March 13, 1961, to the late Charles Thomas Borre and Carolyn Rose Kinney, Chris led a life of self- learning, self- education and one based upon facts.
Chris graduated from East Forsyth Senior High School after the family moved to North Carolina, from which he led a very diverse career history that required him to have the ability to be precise and make decisions that would ensure the success of operations.
Chris’ career journey began at Gilbarco Veeder-Root, where he began in the manufacture of fuel dispensers, obtaining certification in tank mechanics for Underground Storage Tank Systems. He continued forward with employment with Smurfit Stone Container Corporation to which he spent years being a lead print operator. Chris’ penultimate career came through water treatment operations. Chris started within the Winston-Salem water treatment system for years, and grew his knowledge with the Weaverville, Salisbury-Rowan water municipalities. Chris worked at the Norwood Water treatment plant for nine years and successfully managed the business operations as well as the compliance of the facility. The plant received numerous rewards under his tenor. Chris made the progression most recently to the Union County Water system that is still under construction. He made relationships with his operators and utility departments within his title and provided technical knowledge to the intake system located in Norwood. Chris holds the highest level of certifications required by the state of North Carolina and has continued for decades to be a member of the North Carolina Waterworks Association.
Chris is survived by his love, Sandra S Borre and his three stepchildren, Forrest Pfaff, (Paige and first grandson August), Boothe Pfaff and Taylor Pfaff. Chris was so incredibly proud of each of them in their own life journey and loved them as his own. He kept them tucked in his heart daily.
Chris is also survived by his siblings Timothy Borre, Mark Borre and Theresa Taylor. Chris loved each of their families and was very honored to love his nieces and nephews, and their nascent families. His heart was full of joy to see them happy and thrive.
It is worth noting that Chris was a very prolific animal lover. He loved, cared and cherished Red, his Golden Retriever who was unofficially known to be the “Norwood Water Treatment Plant Dog.” Everyone knew Red through Chris. And then there is Moto (after MotoGP). Chris always saved a turtle in the road or would pay for vet bills for a stray only to forward the animal to a family that would continue the love.
Chris’ passion for his family, motorcycle riding, intellectual curiosity, and compassionate soul is a true loss to all who were a part of his life. He will be held fondly and close in the hearts who loved him, held in respect to those who held professional affiliations, and will be the gentle soul reminder to all of us who can do a small deed for another.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to your favorite animal charity.
