James Hartwell Blalock, of Albemarle passed away August 25, 2016 in his home.? His funeral service will be 4 PM Sunday, August 28, 2016 in Palestine United Methodist Church with Rev. Don Burleyson and Rev. Kevin McCormac officiating.? Burial will follow in the Palestine Cemetery.? The family will receive friends at Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care on Saturday evening from 6 until 8 PM.
Born July 11, 1944, Stanly County, NC, he was the son of the late Broadus Baxter Blalock and Sarah Sally Willson Blalock and was a retired tire builder and parts handler for Michelin Tire in Norwood.? He was a member of Palestine United Methodist Church where he was a former Sunday school teacher.? He loved to attend auction sales and was a collector of old bottles, oil lamps, and toy tractors.
Mr. Blalock is survived by his wife Linda Hathcock Blalock. James and Linda would have been married 50 years on September 3, 2016.? Other survivors include son Jamey Blalock of Gastonia, daughter Leigh Ann Owen and husband Brant of Albemarle, step grandchildren Taylor Owen and Kendall Owen, sisters Mary Kratzer, Katie Talent, and Christine Vanhoy all of Norwood and Lilly Morgan of Pinehurst. He was preceded in death by brothers Crawford Blalock and Houston Blalock and sisters Greta Gibson and Collene Simpson.
