James Rayvon Almond's Obituary
James Rayvon Almond, 89, of Locust, passed away Monday, April 10, 2023 in his home. His funeral service will be 2pm Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at Bethel Baptist Church. A burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30pm until 1:30pm at the church prior to the service.
Mr. Almond was born February 18, 1934 in Stanly County, NC to the late Billy Arnold Almond and Effie Pearl Almond Almond. He was the owner of Almond Home Builders; Inc. Rayvon was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. He was kind and caring to others, enjoying traveling with church groups. He also liked gardening.
Rayvon is survived by his wife, Betty Lou Kiser Almond of the home. He is also survived by two sons, Douglas Almond (Roxane) of Mt. Pleasant, NC and James Richard Almond (Delores) of Concord, NC; two daughters, Tonda Dorton (Mike) of Concord, NC and Kim Smith (Monty) of Locust, NC; stepson, Steve Teeter (Cathy) of Lake Norman, NC; two stepdaughters, Kim Rice (Pete) of Charlotte, NC and Karen Fisher of Charlotte, NC; sister Margaret Troutman of Concord, NC; twelve grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Mr. Almond is also preceded in death by four brothers, Lee Almond, Carl Almond, Clinton Almond and Coy Almond; three sisters, Ruby Almond, Lucille Eudy and Rachel Huneycutt and one grandchild, Meredith Smith.
