Jackie "Jake" Winslow Hinson's Obituary
Jackie “Jake” Winslow Hinson, 69, of Locust passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at his home surrounded by family. Visitation will be held from 6-8PM on Friday, February 3, 2023 at Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care in Locust. His funeral service will be held at 11AM on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at Mission Baptist Church in Locust officiated by Rev. Terry Brown.
Mr. Hinson was born December 19, 1953 in Union County to the late Beverly James Hinson and Lucy Hinson Hinson. Jake was very musically talented and could play many instruments and sing. Beekeeping, hunting, fishing, gardening, and kayaking were just a few of his hobbies. Mr. Hinson loved his grandsons dearly. He cared for Gods biggest and smallest creatures from horses to bees. Jake had a way of being the strongest and most compassionate person at the same time. He was a member at Mission Baptist Church and formerly served as a deacon. He spent all his work career as a brick mason with McGee Brothers for 42 years.
Jake is survived by his wife of 49 years Debra Hinson of the home; daughter: Stacy Krehel (Kevin) of Locust; grandchildren: Jackson and Aidan Krehel both of Locust; sister: Gail Stroupe (Terry) of Monroe; aunts: Wilma Baucom of Monroe, Lela Mae Williams of Monroe, Blanche Harvel of Locust, Arwelda Williams of Locust; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother: Wayne Hinson; and sister: Dolly Hinson.
