Jack Walton
Tucker, 85, of Oakboro, NC, passed away on Friday, February 8, 2019 at CHS-Main
in Charlotte. Funeral services for Mr. Tucker will be held at 3:00PM on Wednesday,
February 13, 2019 at Mineral Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Keith Walters
officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held
from 2-3PM prior to the service at the church.
Jack was
born August 27, 1933 in Stanly County to the late Clonnie Macon Tucker and Lydia
Arlene Drye Tucker. He was a member at Mineral Springs Baptist Church where he
taught Sunday School for 50 years and was a deacon. Mr. Tucker retired from
Roman Knit in Norwood and loved watching baseball especially his favorite team
the Atlanta Braves. Jack enjoyed growing flowers and spending time with his
grandchildren. He also served in the Korean War with the United States Army as
a Corporal.
Mr. Tucker
is survived by his wife of 62 years Sue Thomas Tucker of the home; sons Jack
Edward Tucker (Sharon) and Jeffrey Dale Tucker (Kayra) both of Locust;
grandchildren: Lauren (J.T.), Lindsey (Pierre), Travis, Kyle (Rachael); 8
great-grandchildren; and brothers Larry and Ronnie Tucker of Oakboro. He is
preceded in death by brothers Lee Jay Tucker and Melvin Tucker; sisters Betty
Hinson and JoAnn Allen.
