Jack
Richard Hardister Sr., 90, of New London passed away Friday, January 31, 2020
at his home. His funeral service will be Monday at 2 PM at Prospect Baptist
Church in the old sanctuary with Dr. Darrell Huneycutt and Pastor Donald Ray
Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full
military rites. The family will receive friends at Prospect Baptist Church from
12:30 to 2 PM prior to the service.
Born March 23, 1929 in Randolph
County, NC he was the son of the late Robert Chisholm Hardister and Amanda
Pauline Hoover Hardister. He was an active member of Prospect Baptist Church.
He was also a former Sunday School Teacher. Mr. Hardister was a Purple Heart
Veteran of the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Wiscassett
Mills with over 50 years of service and later worked at Kmart in Albemarle.
Mr. Hardister is survived by
his wife of 68 years, Kathleen Burris Hardister of the home, sons Jack Richard
?Ricky? Hardister Jr. and wife Tram of Albemarle, Charles Ray Hardister and
wife Glenda of New London, daughter Sandra Marie Hardister Laine and husband
Ashton of Albemarle, brother Robert Hardister of Albemarle, sisters Lucille
Maner of Norwood, Laura Brown of Albemarle, Shirley Hardister of Charlotte, Sue
Fraley of New London, and Linda Justice of Indian Trail, 5 grandchildren Chad
Hardister, Christopher Smalling, Chris Hardister, Whitney Laine, and Ashley
Hardister, and 10 great-grandchildren. A brother Donald Ray Hardister and a
sister Frances ?Sister? Taylor preceded him in death.

Wounded Warrior Regiment, Charitable Giving Section, 1998 Hill Ave., MCB
Quantico VA, 22134 or to Hospice of Stanly and the Uwharrie, 960 N. First St.,
Albemarle, NC 28001.
