J Ervin Smith's Obituary
Mr. J. Ervin Smith, age 72, of Wingate, NC, passed away on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center of Charlotte.
A memorial service to honor and celebrate the lives of Ervin and Linda Smith will be held on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at 2:00pm in the H. Vann Davis III Memorial Chapel at Davis Funeral Service; 1003 East Franklin Street, Monroe, NC 28112.
Ervin was born on April 3, 1949, in Union County, NC, the son of the late Joel Rufus and Bernice Webb. He was preceded in death by his dear wife, Linda Smith, who passed away just shy of a week prior. He had a love for his farm and his 20 series John Deere tractors. He spent his time raising cows, which he originally raised for slaughter. Those cows quickly turned into pets, as his loving wife started naming them one by one. His wife was his best friend and he was happy to oblige. Ervin and Linda shared a love like no other, spending family vacations in the mountains or on the beach. They loved to travel together any chance they were able. Joel also greatly enjoyed antiques, especially old farm equipment and tools. He had a beautiful, shining personality and his memory will live on through his family and all who knew him.
Those left to carry-on Ervin's memory include his sons, Aaron Smith (Micca), Michael "Mike" Smith (Robin), and Christopher Smith; as well as his brothers, Keith Smith (Catherine), and Grady Smith (Centhia). He will be greatly missed by his six grandchildren: Justin "Bubba" Smith (Gracie), Makayla Smith, Elizabeth Smith, Nicholas Smith, Jacob Smith, and Madison Smith.
