Iris Almond Waller's Obituary
Iris Jeweline Almond Waller, 100, of Albemarle passed away on Saturday, April 3, 2021 at her daughter’s home in Greenville, SC. Her funeral service will be held at 2PM on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 in the Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care Chapel officiated by Rev. Adam Hatley and Rev. Thomas Capps. Visitation will be held from 1-2pm prior to the service. Burial will follow at Stanly Gardens of Memory.
Iris was born October 16, 1920 in Stanly County to the late Lemuel Ransom Almond and Dallie Cauble Almond. Iris graduated from Albemarle High School in 1939 and was the secretary at Wiscasset Mills for several years. Then she stayed at home to raise her four children. She was active at West Albemarle Baptist Church where she served as church librarian, Sunday School teacher, and choir member for many years.
Mrs. Waller is preceded in death by her husband Dwight Henry Waller. She is survived by her son Michael D. Waller (Louise) of Greensboro, NC; daughters: Gail W. Howe (Terry) of Greenville, SC, and Crystal W. Capps (Tom) of Greenville, SC; grandchildren: Lisa Holt (Patrick), Eric Waller (Fiancée Leng), Brandon Howe (Brandi), Ashlie Niles (Mike), Tracie Howe, Heather Kirby (Gary), Josh Capps (Taylor); great-grandchildren: Austin and Hunter Holt, Jack and Mia Howe, Michaela Niles, Garrison, Callie, and Abi Kirby, Walker and Hampton Capps; sister: Peggy Small of Charlotte, NC. Iris is also preceded in death by a daughter, Candace W. Brady; and brothers: Hubert, Glenn, and Donald Almond.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be sent to West Albemarle Baptist Church or to the Dwight Waller Memorial Scholarship Fund at West Albemarle Baptist Church at 336 Church St, Albemarle, NC 28001.
