Houston Cameron's Obituary
Houston Cameron was born on April 2nd, 1929, to Mrs. Geneva Patterson Cameron and Mr. Edward Cameron in Richmond County, North Carolina. He was the eldest of five children. He received his education in the North Carolina School System and graduated high school. He began working at a young age, first on the family property tending to the lands crops and assisting in preparing the families vehicles. He became a school bus driver at a young age and later a truck driver’s assistant in which he was able to travel while they made deliveries sometimes, taking him out of state which was when his curiosity to travel and see more of the world began. His desire for more in life began and he left North Carolina and moved to New York City.
At the age of 22, on April 19th, 1951, he joined the army. He served in the United States Army in many places including Germany and departed from the Army with honorable discharge. He returned home to New York City, married his wife Jessie Cameron and started his family. Within this union came three children, Pierre, Houston Jr. and Velma. Houston worked several jobs and even became a Medallion Cab Driver and worked at a bus company until he landed his job with General Motors in Westchester County. Here he worked until he retired at the age of 53.
At the age of 60 Houston surrendered his life to Christ and filled humbly with living the Lord. A few years later he decided to leave New York, and he relocated back to North Carolina. There he married Mrs. Barbara Cameron. Houston loved the Lord; he worked and ministered God’s word to many. He met and developed great and long-lasting relationships with some dearly beloved friends and extended family (you know who you are).
Houston loved living back home in North Carolina and later in life he reconnected and married Mrs. Emma Cameron, who he lived with for the rest of his life.
Houston loved to socialize, talking with people and traveling but most of all his leisure time was loved and enjoyed fishing and hunting, which he was pretty good at for he had been doing so since his youth.
Houston leaves to mourn his wife Mrs. Emma Cameron, daughter Velma Cameron Beebe and son-in-law Alief Bey, daughter in law Chandra Cameron, grandchildren Tania Cameron Edwards and husband Don Edwards, Tamisha Cameron, Alief and Kentaya Beebe, great grandchildren Carter Jones and Bryce Beebe, a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, loved ones, family and friends.
Houston loved the lord God and loved to share his praise and did so until his time with us was complete and he was called home. More absent from his body and present with the lord with love.
Rest in power and peace daddy! Your presence will be missed but you will forever be loved. Night night daddy I love you.
