Homer Bernard Wagoner's Obituary
Homer Bernard Wagoner “Tom”, 97, of China Grove, formally of Albemarle, passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at the home of his niece. Per Tom's request, there will be no formal services.
Tom was born in Rowan County on December 5, 1927 to the late Carl and Ather Wagoner. He is lovingly survived by his niece who was his long-time caregiver, Kay Starnes, and her husband Glenn of China Grove and their children, Issac, Nicholas, and Zackery Starnes. Kay is the daughter of Faye Knight, Tom’s youngest sister. Those also left to cherish his memory are his sister Dorothy’s children, Trina Bush (James), Debbie Stiller, and their families, and his brother A.O.’s children, Scott, Carla, Robbie Wagoner and their families.
Tom was preceded in death by his wife Bertha "Bert" Wagoner in 2021, sisters, Faye Wagoner Knight and her husband James, Dorothy Edwards and her husband Howard, brothers, Carl R. Wagoner, Jr. (his older brother), and his wife Ida, and Raymond "A.O." Wagoner (his younger brother).
Tom was wonderful storyteller, had a great since of humor, and was always a pleasure to be around. Tom retired from the US Navy and the state of Nevada before returning to his home in Stanly County. Tom and his wife, Bertha enjoyed their time at Piney Point golf club where they both loved the game of golf and spending time with their friends.
