Hazel Simpson Rushing's Obituary
Hazel Simpson Rushing, 90, of Badin Lake passed away Sunday, January 31, 2021 in her home. A graveside service will be held in the Bethlehem Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 7608 Concord Hwy, Monroe, NC on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at 1:30 PM. Her body will lie in state at Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care of Albemarle on Tuesday, February 2nd from 2 pm until 7 PM.
Born January 8, 1931 in Union County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Clifton Simpson and Asbury Williams Simpson. She was a member of Bethlehem Presbyterian Church and retired from Krohler Mfg Co. in Charlotte. She loved flowers and gardening and she also loved to fish. Hazel was a charter member of the Fairview Fire Dept. Women's Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her husband Keith Rushing on August 16, 2013. She is survived by a son, Dennis A. Rushing of Marshville, three daughters, Becki Rushing Rice of Badin Lake, Cathy Rushing Deason (Bill) of Monroe, and Carol R. Hinson of Badin Lake, seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter and a brother-in-law Troy Rushing of Monroe. A brother, Wilson, and two sisters, Willie Mae and Marjorie, preceded her in death.
Mrs. Rushing was a vibrant lady who loved music and being around people. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the staff of Hospice of Stanly and the Uwharrie for their compassionate care.
