Harriet Lyles Watkins' Obituary
Harriet Lyles Watkins, 79, surrounded by loved ones, passed away Friday, April 21, 2023. Harriet was born March 12, 1944 in Charlotte to the late Harry W. and Carmen Elizabeth Lyles. She was also preceded in death by husband, Roy Lee Watkins and son, Roy Lee Watkins, Jr.
Harriet graduated from Harding High School in Charlotte, class of 1962. She was a staple at Stanly Memorial Hospital, later known as Stanly Regional Medical Center, as the credit manager over the business office, credit department, and switchboard for over 39 years.
Harriet was an avid traveler, and her happy places were Walt Disney World and her Mountain home in Cherokee. She loved Mickey Mouse and Harrah’s Casino. She was a fun loving, Christian woman who shared her love, humor and generosity with family and friends.
Harriet is survived by her chosen family, Sarah and Ronnie Michael, Terri and Garry West, Melissa and Taylor Pittman, and her HEART, Sarah Beth Pittman, Caroline West, and Eston West, III. To them, she will always be Nunzie and Nunnie.
She is also survived by her devoted friends, Sandra and Greg Helms, Nancy and Vernon Thompson, Sherry and Dale Poplin, Sam Poplin and Brenda Page.
A celebration of life will be held at the Rosebriar, Saturday, May 6, 2023 from 3pm until 5pm. Memorials may be made to Stanly County Christian Ministries or First Presbyterian Church.
