Harriet Mae Dreier's Obituary
Mrs. Harriet M. Dreier, age 96, of Monroe, North Carolina, passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2013, at her daughter's residence.
A Service to Celebrate the Life of Harriet M. Dreier will be at 1:30 PM Monday, September 23, 2013, in the chapel at Central United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 12:45 PM until 1:15 PM in the chapel, prior to the ceremony.
Harriet was born on July 11, 1917, in Finley, North Dakota. She was the daughter of the late William James Moore and Myrtle Bessie Parkman Moore. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Robert (Bob) Dreier and sister, Eva Haudedahl of Wildrose, ND. She is survived by her daughter, Terri Dreier Dean and husband Willard Dean of Waxhaw and grandchildren, Hallie Grace Dean and Carly Anna Dean.
Harriet and Bob grew up, met and were married in Fargo, ND. They moved to Monroe in 1967, where Harriet began work as a secretary for American Bank and Trust. She retired from UCB in 1982 and began her many years' work as a ceramics instructor for the city of Monroe. Harriet was a long time member of Central United Methodist Church and the Monroe Women's League. She was also very active with the American Cancer Society, serving as their treasurer for many years.
Anyone who knew Harriet knew her as the most kind-hearted, sweet, soft spoken lady with a passion for the game of bridge. Every week, she looked forward to spending time with all her dear friends at the game table!
