Harold Bost Palmer's Obituary
Harold Bost Palmer, 93, of Albemarle passed away Monday, September 7, 2015 in Forrest Oakes Nursing Center.? His memorial service will be 3 PM Thursday, September 10, 2015 in Salem United Methodist Church with Rev. Steve Combs officiating.? Burial will follow in the church cemetery.? The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall immediately following the burial.
Born March 16, 1922 in Stanly County, NC, he was the son of the late Louis Oscar Palmer and Cora Bost Palmer.? Mr. Palmer was a farmer and a member of Salem United Methodist Church.? He was also a Veteran of the US Army having served in WWII.? He earned the rank of T-5 Corporal during his service and he fought in 3 major battles: The Battle of Metz, The Battle of the Bulge and the Ruhr Pocket.? He served on the front lines for 143 days.? Mr. Palmer served as an MP in Europe for a year after WWII.? He was a Life Member of the Disabled American Veterans and a member of the 95th Infantry Division Association.
He was preceded in death by his wife Juanita Russell Palmer.
Mr. Palmer is survived by a son Lamarr Palmer and wife Brenda of Richfield, daughter Judy Crowell and husband Richard of Albemarle, grandchildren Regina Misenheimer and husband Tony, Steven Palmer and wife Misty, and Jamie Palmer and wife Jackie, and 5 great-grandchildren, Reagan, Carson, Ethan, Bri, and Zac.
The family requests that memorials be made to Community Home Care and Hospice, 120 N. Main St., Troy, NC 27371 or to Salem United Methodist Church, 20987 NC-73, Albemarle, NC 28001.
