Grey Carle passed away peacefully on 9 January, 2017 She is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Kevin and her faithful little buddy, "Pepper". ?Mrs. Carle was of the Methodist faith. She was the daughter of the late E.P. Read Obituary
I knew Grey as both Ms. Gamewell and Mrs. Carle. I was a student of hers from 1973-1975 when she taught at Reidsville Sr. High. She was a big influence on me and opened up lots of things that really helped me as a professional photographer. I found this as I was retiring and wanted to tell her how much her support and friendship had meant to me during my life, I am sorry I waited so long.
Kevin, I just realized Gray's Father E. P. Gamewell was my 8th grade Career Exploration teacher for 9 weeks at South Stanly! I played Sat night for Gray's service! Praying for the Lord to comfort you!
I have fond memories of Grey from Albemarle Senior High Schoo. Our class had it's 50th reunion this past fall in Badin and people asked about her and we heard she lived in New London. I hope to go by the Gallery in Albemarle the next time I am in town to see her work, if any is still there. We missed her and were unaware of any health issues that might have kept her from attending. My condolences to all of you. I certainly remember Kathy who was only a year ahead of us and Mrs. Gamewell was a very favorite teacher with whom I got to spend an hour a day with for 3 years as a journalism student. I felt so privileged to have had her teach and mentor me and the rest of us.
Mrs caryle was one of the best teachers that I have ever had. Some of my best memories of East Montgomery high school were in her classroom. I am fortunate to have known her.

I've known Grey all my life; she was an incredibly talented and caring person. Thankfully, because she shared so much of herself with us, through her many art forms, we will continue to remember and appreciate Grey's talents for years to come. She will be missed by many.
Kevin, I am so sorry to hear of Grey's passing. She was a gentle spirit with a great talent. She added so much to my time at East Montgomery. She was always there to throw ideas off of or just to lend a helping hand. She took so much pride in her work at East and truly loved and respected her students. During this time of reflection , please know that she touch many students and teachers through her dedication to her profession as an art teacher at East! She will be missed by many...the least of which is me.
Mrs Carle was the best teacher I ever had, she is the reason I am in graphic design. She will truly be missed.
I am so sorry for your loss of a dear sweet wife. I am one of her students Mothers. The attention and encouragement and guidance she gave to her students made life changing that will go on forever. She left part of her passion in them. Melissa is one of those adults that gets up everyday and loving her life as a graphic artist and owns her own company!
