Grady "Frank" Hopkins' Obituary
Grady Franklin "Frank" Hopkins, 95, of Albemarle, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 27, 2026, at his home, surrounded by the love of his family.
A funeral service celebrating Frank's life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, July 31, 2026, in the Stanly Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Pastor Jim Yow. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Fairview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening, July 30, 2026, from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Stanly Funeral & Cremation Care of Albemarle.
Born on February 4, 1931, in Stanly County, Frank was the son of the late Grady and Ruth Hopkins.
He is lovingly survived by his devoted wife of 74 years, Edith Nelle Winn Hopkins, whose faithful love and partnership were the foundation of their family. Also left to cherish his memory are his sons, Kevin Hopkins (Kim), Todd Hopkins (Ann), and Scott Hopkins (Kimberly); grandchildren, Alexandra H. Shipp (Trevor), Michael Hopkins (Ashlyn), Morgan H. West (Adam), Brittney H. Voyles (Jay), Taylor H. London (Grey), and Lauryn Hopkins; great-grandchildren, Charlie, Delilah, Thomas, Macie, Sawyer and Charley; along with many beloved cousins, nieces, and extended family members.
In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his sister, Martha Ruth Thomas; his brother, Larry E. Hopkins.
Frank was a proud veteran who honorably served his country, but his greatest pride was always his family. A devoted husband, loving father, treasured Granddaddy, and faithful provider, he dedicated his life to caring for those he loved. Known for his kind heart, tireless work ethic, and generous spirit, Frank never met a stranger. He genuinely enjoyed visiting with people, sharing stories, and brightening every gathering with his wonderful sense of humor and playful wit. His outgoing personality and warm smile made friends wherever he went.
His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were among his greatest joys, and nothing meant more to him than spending time with his family. A man of unwavering faith, Frank faithfully attended Central United Methodist Church for more than 70 years, where he was a dedicated and faithful member of his church family.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Trinity Place and the compassionate caregivers of Tillery Compassionate Care for the exceptional care, kindness, and support shown to Frank and his family throughout his declining health.

Frank's legacy is one of faith, hard work, unwavering devotion to his family, and genuine kindness toward everyone he met. His life was a testament to the values he held dear, and his love will continue to live on in the hearts of those blessed to know him. Though he will be deeply missed, the countless memories he created, the laughter he shared, and the example he set will remain a lasting source of comfort and inspiration for generations to come.
