Gloria Ann Smith's Obituary
Gloria Ann Smith, 90, of Oakboro, NC passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at Bethany Woods Nursing & Rehab in Albemarle. Her funeral will be 2pm Friday, November 17, 2023 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Dr. Shad Hicks officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service in the church from 1pm till 2pm. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.
Born November 18, 1932 in Union County, she was the daughter of the late William Fred Smith and Mattie Odell Edwards Smith. Gloria was a lifelong member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. She had a long career working at Wiscasset Mill as the executive secretary. She enjoyed doing puzzles, cooking, and working in her flower garden.
She is survived by her sons, Tony Smith (Teresa) of New London and Terry Smith (Bernadette) of St. Phillips, Newfoundland. Other survivors include her brother Hal Smith (Lynn) of Albemarle and grandchildren, Teryn Smith, Charlotte Smith, Anthony Smith and Steven Smith (Julie).
In addition to her parents, Gloria is preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Smith and her brother, Bill Smith.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tillery Compassionate Care at 960 N. 1st St. Albemarle, NC or to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church at 17236 Frog Pond Rd. Oakboro, NC 28129.
