Gladys Collins Byrd Barclay (Mrs. T. Boy Byrd), 95, of Troy died Friday morning, January 27, 2017 at Trinity Place in Albemarle.? Her funeral service will be 4 PM Sunday, January 29 in the Stanly Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ron Scott officiating.? Burial will follow in Norview Gardens in Norwood.? The family will receive friends at Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care on Sunday from 2 until 3:30 PM prior to the funeral service.
Born November 2, 1921 in Woodville, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Vera Collins.? She was a member of Lovejoy Methodist Church in Troy.? She was preceded in death by two husbands Sam Thompson Byrd and Haynes Barclay, two brothers Carl and Wyatt Collins and son-in-law Benny Allen.
She is survived by two sons Larry Byrd and wife Kathryn of Myrtle Beach, SC, Keith Byrd and wife Paula of Norwood, two daughters Sherry Allen of Troy and Vera Kaye Coble and husband Jerry of Albemarle, step-daughter Lisa Ramsey of Chattanooga, TN, two sisters Annette Dowdy and husband Bob of Destin Florida and Nancy Helms and husband Steve of Woodville, Alabama, sister-in-law Elisabeth Collins of Scotsboro, Alabama, nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, 2 step-grandchildren, 1 step-great-great grandchild.
