Gilbert Haywood Roberts' Obituary
Gilbert Haywood Roberts, 80, of Albemarle, passed away Sunday, May 10, 2026, at the Salisbury Veterans Administration Medical Center.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, May 15, 2026, at Fellowship Baptist Church with Rev. David Howard officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Stanly Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church.
Gilbert was born June 28, 1945, in Cleveland County, North Carolina, and was the son of the late Melvin Elias Roberts and Mattie Lou Palmer Roberts. A proud veteran, Gilbert faithfully served his country in the United States Army.
Growing up, Gilbert attended Millingport School. He retired from 4 C’s Consolidated and had previously worked with Skyline Mobile Homes and Sterling Mobile Homes. He was a devoted and active member of Fellowship Baptist Church.
Gilbert was known as a man who could fix or build just about anything. He was gifted with his hands and enjoyed working in his yard, taking great pride in keeping it neat and beautiful. More than anything, Gilbert cherished his family. They were the center of his life, and he loved them deeply.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Janice G. Roberts of the home; daughters, Kim Yow of Albemarle and Carrie Andrews and husband, John, of Locust; brother, Kenneth Roberts and wife, Judy, of Albemarle; grandchildren, Landon Andrews, Joel Andrews, Gracie Andrews of Rochester, Indiana, and Jeffrey “JD” Pennington and wife, Whitley, of Concord; and great-grandson, Jon Paul “Noah” Pennington.
In addition to his parents, Gilbert was preceded in death by brothers, Rollins Roberts and Emmett Roberts; and sisters, Dean McDaniel and Faye Eudy.
