George Thomas Perser's Obituary
George Thomas Perser, 82, of Albemarle, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, May 18, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 22, 2026, at the Stanly Funeral Home Chapel in Albemarle, officiated by Bishop Henderson. Burial will follow at Oakboro Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.
George was born on December 16, 1943, in Texas to the late George and Shirley Perser. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend who treasured his family above all else.
He is lovingly survived by his wife of 64 years, Laurella Tuscany Perser of the home; daughter, Laura Ann Seabrooks; son, Thomas Jean Perser; grandchildren, Thomas Morales (Giovanna), Ashley Perser, Thomas Jean Perser II, Robert Sharkey (Caitlin), Rebecca Warner (Joseph), Thomas Seabrooks, and Jessica Huneycutt (Bobby); 14 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Michael Abbot.
In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his sister, Carol Ann Perser; stepfather, Floyd Abbot; and son-in-law, Robert Seabrooks.
George had a deep love for music and enjoyed singing in many choirs throughout his life. He was passionate about genealogy, loved fishing, and never met a stranger. Known for his gift of conversation and warm personality, George enjoyed sharing stories and spending time with those around him. A hardworking man, he spent many years as a mechanic working in steel mills and the automotive industry, and even after retirement, he continued tinkering with cars; something he truly enjoyed.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Gentiva Hospice for the compassionate care and support shown to George during his declining health.
George will be remembered for his kind heart, strong work ethic, and the love he shared with his family and friends. His memory will live on in the lives of all who knew and loved him.
