Geneva Taylor
Mullis, 94, of Stanfield passed away Monday, April 1, 2019 at CHS- Stanly. Her
funeral will be Thursday, April 4, at 4 PM at the First Baptist Church of
Stanfield with Rev. Bruce League and Dr. Kinney Wallace officiating. The family
will receive friends from 3 PM until 4 PM prior to the service. Burial will
follow in the church cemetery.
Born September
15, 1924 in Stanly County, she was the daughter of the late Jonah Taylor and
Minnie Furr Taylor. Geneva was a member of First Baptist Church in Stanfield. She
retired from Stanly Knitting Mill.
In addition
to her parents, Geneva is preceded in death by her husband Burton D. Mullis,
brother J.C. Taylor, Jr., and sisters, Della Furr Petrea and Doris Taylor Drye.
Mrs. Mullis is survived by her daughters Avon M. Morton (Lynn) of Oakboro and Kathy
M. Anderson (Adam) of Stanfield. Other survivors include her sister, Novella Poplin
of Oakboro, grandchildren, Bryan Morton (Jennifer), Troy Morton (Trista), and Amanda
Smith (Brian), and great-grandchildren, Hayley Morton, Kayla Austin, Kyle
Pennington, Charlie Morton, Cole Morton, and Tatum Little.
In lieu of
flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Stanfield-Building Fund at
P.O. Box 279 Stanfield, NC 28163 and Hospice of Stanly & the Uwharrie at
960 First Street Albemarle, NC 28001.
