Frederick Earl Efird Jr., 84, of Oakboro passed away Friday, December 29, 2017 in Bethany Woods Nursing and Rehab Center.? His funeral service will be graveside at 2 PM on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 in the Oakboro Cemetery with Rev. Keith Walters officiating.? There will be no formal visitation.
Born December 24, 1933 in Stanly County, NC, he was the son of the late Frederick Earl Efird Sr. and Dorothy Brewer Efird and was a former manager with A&P Grocery Stores and a former Deputy Sheriff with the Stanly County Sheriff?s Dept.? He was a member of the Church of God and a veteran of the US Army.? Mr. Efird loved woodworking and gardening.
Mr. Efird is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marie Brooks Efird of the home.? Other survivors include daughter Kim Terry and husband Joseph of Reidsville, brothers Lowell Efird of Gibsonville and Garnald Efird of Charlotte, sister Sybil Russell of Norwood, grandchildren Riley McMillian and Sam Davis and 4 great grandchildren.? He was preceded in death by a daughter Dee Ann Efird, grandchild Tanner Davis, and three sisters Cynthia Efird, Wanda Mullis and Phyllis Talbert.
