Fred Douglas Bruton's Obituary
Fred Douglas Bruton, 84, of Mt. Gilead, NC, passed away Sunday, April 23, 2023 at First Health Hospice House, West End, NC. His graveside service will be 11am Thursday, April 27, 2023 at Stanly Gardens of Memory with Marva York officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6pm until 8pm at Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care of Albemarle.
Mr. Bruton was born October 2, 1938 in Montgomery County, NC to the late Godfrey Bruton and Mary Tyson Bruton. He retired as a Correctional Officer at Cameron Marrison in Hoffman, NC. In his later life after retirement, he was a associate with several radio stations, WJRM-Troy, NC, WADE-Wadesboro, NC and WLWL-Rockingham as a DJ. Fred was a member of Clarks Grove Baptist Church in Wadesville, NC and he was avid NASCA fan with Richard Petty being his favorite driver. Bruton was a veteran of the United States Army.
Fred was preceded in death by his wife, Ella Bruton. He is survived by a son, Douglas Bruton (La Deborah) of Charlotte, NC; daughter, Janette Jackson (Samuel) of Apex, NC; a granddaughter, Adacia Bruton of Raleigh, NC and special friend, Johnny Greene of Mt. Gilead, NC. Mr. Bruton is also preceded in death by two brothers, Reginald and Leon; a sister, Doris York and a grandson, Chase Bruton.
