Born in Albemarle, North Carolina, to Clyde and Estelle Hatley, Frankie’s life was a beautiful composition of love, art and grace. She graduated from Albemarle High School in 1960 and went on to attend Peace College.
Frankie was a gifted vocalist and accomplished musician who played both piano and organ. Her love of music began early, taking root in her church, and continued to be a central part of her life. She was still serving as the music director at Our Lady of Annunciation Catholic Church at the time of her passing.
One of her proudest moments was singing the National Anthem at the Atlanta Braves Stadium in 1978. She also performed with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, a reflection of her extraordinary talent and lifelong dedication to her art.
In addition to her musical talents, Frankie was a devoted pre-K teacher at First Presbyterian Church Preschool for over 10 years. She poured her heart into her students, bringing warmth, patience, and joy to the classroom each day.
Frankie is survived by her son, Mark Lassiter Sr., and daughters Rosemary Lassiter Schaap and Rebecca Grefrath (Eric). She was a beloved Nana to Trey, Mark, Greyson, Ross, Will, Gabe, Drew, Jay, Treece, and Ethan, and a cherished great-Nana to Ezra, Bella, Kalilah, Kiaan, and Addison Rose, affectionately known as “Tot.”
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Estelle Hatley, and her grandson, Thomas.
