Frances Pope Newton's Obituary
Mrs. Frances Pope Newton, age 93 of Albemarle, NC passed
away Friday, September 27, 2019 at Trinity Place, Albemarle, NC. A graveside service will be held at 11 AM on
Wednesday, October 2, 2019 in the Stanly Gardens of Memory, Albemarle with the
Rev. Jacob Waldrip officiating. There
will be no formal visitation prior to the service.
Mrs. Newton was born October 10, 1925 in Hickory, NC to the
late Jesse Lee Pope and Edith Whitener Pope and was a graduate of Meredith and
Mars Hill. She retired as Supervisor of
the Taylor House where she worked from 1973 to 1990 and she was a member of
First Baptist Church in Albemarle.
Mrs. Newton was married to the late Allen Leroy
Newton who preceded her in death April 1, 2016.
A son, Chris Pope Newton also preceded her in death. Survivors include one son, Alan Mark Newton
of Thomasville, NC, and a sister, Jo Anne Vereen of Whiteville, NC.
