Floyd Everette Cavin, Jr., 82, of Albemarle passed away March 27, 2017 in his home.? His funeral service will be 2 PM Thursday, March 30, 2017 in the Stanly Funeral Home Chapel with James Daniel Edwards officiating. ?Burial will follow in Stanly Gardens of Memory.? The family will receive friends at Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care on Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 PM.
Born December 5, 1934 in Rowan County, NC, he was the son of the late Floyd Everette Cavin Sr. and Abbie Wilhelm Cavin.? Mr. Cavin was a retired truck driver with D & M Meat Packing in Albemarle.? He was a veteran of the US Army and was a man of many talents.? During his life he worked as an electrician and welder.? Mr. Cavin loved to tinker and built his first Satellite system and also enjoyed being an Amateur Radio Operator.
Mr. Cavin was preceded in death by his wife Sara Cavin in 2012.? Survivors include daughter Cathy Edwards of Albemarle, son David Scott Cavin of Murfreesboro, NC, brothers Bob Cavin of Aurora Colorado and Jim Cavin and wife Pat of Enochville, NC sisters Jane Culp of Enochville, NC and Frankie Cavin of Enochville, NC, grandchildren James Daniel Edwards and Virginia Dean Gulledge, 3 great-grandchildren, step children Mark Thompson of Charlotte, Michelle Brown of Charlotte, and Theresa Thompson of Albemarle, 2 step grandchildren, and 1 step-great-grandchild.
