Flake Lee Mundy's Obituary
Flake Lee Mundy, 86, of New London passed away at 2:25 PM on Friday, March 1, 2024 at Atrium Health Northeast in Concord. His funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Sunday, March 3, 2024 at Homeland Baptist Church with Rev. Ronnie Pugh officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 10 until 11 AM prior to the funeral service. Burial will be held at a later date at Forest Lawn West in Charlotte, NC.
Born June 10, 1937 in Gaston County, NC, he was the son of the late Francis Mundy and Pauline Stillwell Mundy. He was educated at Paw Creek School and was a forklift operator at Rexham for over 25 years. Mr. Mundy was a member of Homeland Baptist Church and he loved fishing, gardening, baking and taking care of his lovely wife. He was a devoted Christian and loved giving the fruits of his labor from his garden to his friends and family. In the off season he would bake cakes and take them to his doctors, dentists, church members and Chic-A-Ray.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Ann Greene Mundy of the home. Other survivors include sisters Shirley Shaver of Concord, Frances Stamey (Bill) of Midland, and Linda Potts of New London, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother Alvin Christenbury and sisters Mary Long, Alma Hedrick, and Barbara Johns.
