One early morning, just shy of 6 A.M., I witnessed Eugene fill a bowl of Kellogs Corn Flakes and then pour a pot of hot black coffee over said bowl. Corn Flakes and Hot Coffee?
This struck me as odd but led me down a rabbit hole of other unique breakfast uses of coffee from other cultures.
I never once confirmed whether this was a common occurence in the Dominican Republic, but nonetheless i always attributed his strength and resilience to such a diet. He was a man of fortitude and strength and his first meal of the day represented this so.
As someone who was alive for the dawn of the internet, i have on more than one occassion found myself reading random memorials that i stumbled upon by chance.
These memorials are found through search results and are based upon whatever keywords were entered in the search term at the time.
I purposely wrote this memorial in a way to increase that likeliness that a random person will have a similar experience finding this comment randomly.
Reading comments the live share of the deceased and the interactions from lost memorie regardless whether strangers or not is profound.
I hope the person that finds and reads this gains some bit of insight and clarity that life is a chain of events leading from one to another and we must do our best to be good and treat others with respect.
This was the main tenant of morality i learned from my Grandfather Eugene Reyes. Facing dictatorship in his birth country under Rafael Trujillo im sure added to his stoic nature, but he was never in short supply of affection in the form of hugs and kisses, and a childs favorite; gifts.
Appreciate what you have and if you dont have it you can go get it with some hard work
Hard Work is God Thirst
Sincerly,

P.S. of course when i was done writing this Joy and Pain by Maze and Frankie Beverly played
the same things that give us joy, give us pain, they are one in the same
