Ernest "Ernie" Edward Sturgill's Obituary
Mr. Ernie Sturgill, age 86, passed away on December 8, 2015 at Monroe Rehabilitation.
A Memorial service to celebrate the life of Mr. Sturgill will be 3:00 PM Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at Davis Funeral Chapel, 1003 East Franklin Street, Monroe, NC, 28112, with full military honors.
He was born September 6, 1929 to Ernest Edward and Ethel Parker Sturgill in Monmouth, N.J. He was a California Union Worker as a Brick Mason. He was a Korean veteran of the Army Air Corp.
Survivors include his sons Ed Sturgill (Dottie) of Monroe and Ralph Sturgill (Cassie) of Lumberton, NJ. He is survived by a brother William McCann, Jr of Highlands, NJ, and two sisters, Evelyn Escobedo of Ft. Wayne, IN, and Maureen Johnson of St. Augustine, FL. Grandchildren surviving include Kelly Harris ( Chad Eury) of Unionville, NC and Melissa DiSalvo (Grayland Purcell) of Monroe, and great grandchildren Isabella DiSalvo, Lake Norman, NC, Chelsea DiSalvo, Unionville, NC, Jasmine DiSalvo of Unionville, NC, Brynn Purcell of Monroe, NC and Addison Eury of Oakboro, NC. Mr. Charles DiSalvo of Monroe was his constant caregiver.
Mr. Sturgill was predeceased by his parents, and a large number of siblings.
