Emma Starnes' Obituary
Mrs. Emma Morris Starnes, age 90, of Monroe, North Carolina, passed away Friday, August 23, 2013, at her residence.
Funeral Services to celebrate her life will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday, August 25, 2013, at Davis Funeral Chapel in Monroe, officiated by Reverend Roger Burrows and Reverend Horace Helms. Interment will follow in the Turner Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Starnes was born on August 2, 1923, in Union County, North Carolina, a daughter of the late James Roscoe Morris and Connie Lee Melton Morris.
She was married to the late Daniel Wesley Starnes who passed in 1996. She was preceded in death by a son, Gilbert Starnes, three daughters, Rachel Stroud, Nancy Carol Starnes, and Cheryl Helms. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Marshall Starnes, Jr. and two great-grandchildren, Noah Chaney and Brianna Helms.
Survivors include one son, Marshall J. Starnes of Monroe, five daughters, Lessie Craig, Brenda Wyles, Wanda Starnes, Dale Quinto and husband, Joe, all of Monroe, Pam Helms and husband, Horace, of Pageland; and her son-in-law, Jimmy Helms of Monroe. There are 24 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, and 22 great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Saturday night (August 24, 2013) from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Davis Funeral Home; 1003 East Franklin Street in Monroe.
