My sweet aunt called me Chela. Her smile would light up a room. One of my fondest memories as a kid was when she dressed up my sister and I in our prettiest dresses, she put red lipstick on us, styled our hair and she took the prettiest pictures with all our stuffed animals around us. We felt like her little dolls posing as she told us. My mom has those cherished pictures.
Titi was always beautifully dressed and I looked forward to getting to pick items from her wardrobe. She loved fashion and was such a fierce dresser.
She taught me the art of expression through letter writing in my early teens. Those were some tough years but she always gave me some wonderful advice. We were pen pals for the longest even when we were just a borough away. She was in Brooklyn and I was in Queens. I got to write her a few letters once she moved to NC.
I look forward to seeing her again. I can hear her voice as she would say to me “Hey Chela, how you doing?”
See you soon my beautiful tia ❤️
